Terms of Service

Last updated: June 28, 2026

Chop In at chop-in.com (the "Service") is operated by William Mullin("Chop In", "we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

What Chop In does

Chop In reads the track you are currently playing on Spotify, identifies the classical piece, and serves a matching public-domain sheet-music score. Identification is automated and may not always be correct.

Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 13 to use the Service. Some features require signing in (handled by Clerk). Keep your account secure; you are responsible for activity under it.

Connecting Spotify

If you connect Spotify, you authorize Chop In to read your currently playing track via the Spotify API in order to identify pieces. Your use of Spotify remains governed by Spotify's own terms. You can revoke Chop In's access at any time from your Spotify account settings.

Acceptable use

Sheet music & intellectual property

The scores Chop In serves are sourced from public-domain collections (for example the Mutopia Project) and are used under their respective licenses, including CC BY-SA with attribution where required. We make a good-faith effort to serve only public-domain works, but we do not warrant the copyright status of any particular score in your jurisdiction; you are responsible for confirming a work is free to use where you are. If you believe a work is served in error, contact us and we will review and remove it.

The Chop In software, design, and curation are © William Mullin. "Chop In" is a trademark of William Mullin. You may not use them without permission.

Third-party services

Chop In relies on third parties (Spotify, Clerk, Neon, Vercel). We are not responsible for those services, and your use of them is subject to their own terms.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that piece identification will be accurate, that any score is error-free or public-domain in your jurisdiction, or that the Service will be uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, William Mullin is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold William Mullin harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

Termination

We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Service.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

Changes

We may update these Terms; continued use after changes means you accept them.
